The Artwork!
This pencil sketching of New Hampshire's Old Man In The Mountain is the creation of Pete Sanfacon who has graciously allowed us to use it as part of our logo (thanks again, Pete!).
The Old Man In The Mountain - right there on all of our license plates along with the State Motto - Live Free or Die (stamped by the inmates in our state prisons).
The Old Man In The Mountain. First noticed by the Native American Indians, weathering created the visage that became the symbol of New Hampshire (solid values rooted in granite), it was located in Franconia Notch in the White Mountains.
That's right - "was" - until it all fell down. Ah, the irony. Yup, we live in a state that continues to prize a symbol that now consists of lots of little granite pieces. And that says "what?" about us?
